STATIONS OF THE THAI-BURMA RAILWAY 1943
A detailed fly-through on Youtube, (click picture) - put online by James Dykes, of The Thai-Burma Railway 1943 as it tracks through S.W. Thailand and into Burma, still off limits to non-Burmese. This replica of the route, has been reproduced from Austin University, Texas typographic maps and USGS satellite Digital Elevation Maps, rendered in Vue xStream.  Hopefully, the families of the fallen may now be more informed of the geography of the jungle in which their loved ones suffered and died from 1942-1945.

An international reunion was being planned by the USS Charles F Adams class ships to be held in Jacksonville, Florida but the US Navy has now decided that the ship will not be donated to be used as a museum, rather the Navy now has decided to scrap the ex-USS Charles F Adams.

HMAS Perth National Association consists of a group of serving and ex-Naval personnel who have served on either of the Navy ships named HMAS PERTH. Family of PERTH and ex PERTH personnel as well as other interested parties may also join as Associate or Special members.
The first HMAS PERTH was commissioned into the RAN in 1939 (ex HMS AMPHION), just before the beginning of World War II, and was sunk by the Japanese in the Sunda Strait on 1st March 1942, along with USS HOUSTON. Click the link above for the statistics and a brief history of PERTH(1).
The second HMAS PERTH was built by the Defoe Shipbuilding Company in Bay City, MICHIGAN, USA, was commissioned into the RAN on 17 July 1965 in Boston USA. She was decommissioned on Friday 15th October 1999. Click the link above to see the ship statistics and view a brief history of PERTH (2).
The third HMAS PERTH was built by Tenix and launched in Williamstown VIC and was commissioned into the RAN on Saturday 26 August 2006 at Fremantle WA, and is an "ANZAC" class frigate (FFH), hull number 157.
The main aim of our Association is the welfare of our Members. To this end, we attempt to raise money to help our welfare fund by reselling "rabbits" and memorabilia, and organising get-togethers and reunions.
Membership of the Association is open to any serving or ex-naval person who has served some time in any ship named HMAS PERTH, and costs AU$20.00 to join and thereafter AU$20.00 per year for Associate members only. The membership year is from 1 July to 30 June of the following year. Membership for all ex-PERTH personnel is free except for the joining fee. Our Annual General Meeting is usually held mid-July to late September each year. Associate membership is available to others who may have an interest in the 'PERTH ships', as well as to family of PERTH or ex-PERTH personnel.
Would you like to join our Association ?:
If you would like to join the Association, you may either download a "PDF" application form or a plain text application form and fill it in, then mail it to us,
(the PDF form may be printed before manually filling in, or filled online then saved and/or printed)
All prospective members - both Normal and Associate - may request to join online from this web site by clicking the "Leave Details / Join" button at the left and follow the instructions there. Relatives or any non-Navy personnel may also join online or by snail mail, using the text or PDF application form, completing it and mailing it to our Membership Secretary.
We produce a quarterly newsletter "PERTH PUNDIT" to help keep members informed of coming events such as Anzac Day. The production of the newsletter is a fairly big task, and any help by way of articles and photographs from members is always welcome.
Our contact address and telephone numbers are below, if you wish to contact us by mail or phone. There is also a personal information page (see links on the left) to allow you to leave your name and address to help us correct and compile our HMAS PERTH database.
